PhD Student in Biophysics - Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center
Sarah Chamberlain is a fourth year PhD student in Biophysics at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. In Dr. Shafirstein’s lab, she combines the disciplines of physics and biology to investigate treatment planning for photodynamic therapy of lung cancer. Sarah’s thesis focuses on the characterization and treatment plan development for a surface applicator for intraoperative photodynamic therapy. Outside of research, Sarah organizes academic wellness events for graduate students and postdocs at Roswell Park in an effort to promote mental and physical wellness in academia. Currently, Sarah is the secretary for the graduate student association at Roswell Park, where she has previously been president and has helped develop a student representative committee to help open communication among the many research tracks at Roswell Park. Outside of her career, she enjoys reading, hiking, running, and training in Krav Maga.
