Mashaal Sohail is a PhD student at Harvard University in the program for systems biology. She grew up in Karachi and received her undergraduate degree from MIT in Biological Engineering. Her work focuses on developing methods to study the process of evolutionary change using genetic data from human and other populations. Mashaal is interested in the evolutionary history of man and what genetic data can tell us about the story of life. She believes in the power of science to open minds and is interested in engaging a larger audience with the frontiers of biology. She enjoys traveling, cooking, good conversation and outdoor activities.
