Maria Carnovale, Ph.D.
Maria Carnovale (she/her/hers) is a Lead Policy Analyst at the Duke Initiative for Science and Society. She writes and curates content on policies related to Data Security and Emerging Technology on Scipol.org. Prior to joining Science and Society, Maria was a researcher and instructor at the Energy, Resources, and Environment Program of Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies. An economist by training, Maria received her PhD in Public Policy from Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy. In her free time she enjoys running, playing volleyball and reading a good novel while drinking a hot cup of tea.
