Entomology Ph.D. Candidate, University of California, Riverside
Madison
As a Ph.D. candidate in entomology at the University of California Riverside, Madison has helped to develop and lead a variety of science education and outreach programs, including SciComm @ UCR,  Science for Citrus Health, and the Entomology Outreach Program, to foster interest in a variety of science disciplines and science communication. Madison’s dissertation work is under the mentorship of Jessica Purcell and is focused on the ecology and genomics of social insects. They use a combination of lab experiments and ecological and genomic data collection, coupled with computational modeling, to investigate insect social traits and the environmental role these insects play in natural and agricultural settings. She graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a bachelor's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology in May 2017.
