Leanna Kalinowski is a doctoral candidate in behavioral neuroscience at the University of Toronto, where she studies the impact of negative environmental experiences (e.g., stress, illness, drug use) during adolescence on brain development. Outside of the lab, she loves getting individuals of all ages excited about science through classroom visits with Let’s Talk Science, community outreach events for Brain Awareness Week, and neuroscience article summaries for BrainPost. More recently, Leanna has become immersed in communicating science to a unique but important group – policymakers – by participating in several science policy and advocacy training programs. She is incredibly excited to serve on the 2022 ComSciCon logistics committee and share her love for science communication with attendees and her fellow organizers.
