Kelsey is a San Diego native who abandoned the sunshine to study mathematics and philosophy at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Now she's a doctoral candidate in math at Cornell University, studying probability theory. Her dissertation research is about discrete heat kernel estimates. During her PhD, Kelsey has developed her interest in science engagement and communication. She has worked with groups ranging from elementary school students to incarcerated adults. In the span of one year, she wrote and hosted 44 episodes of PBS Infinite Series, a weekly YouTube show exploring college‐level mathematics. Before that, she was a AMS‐AAAS Mass Media Fellow and worked as a science journalist at NOVA Next.
