Julie Fornaciari (she/her) is a Ph.D. candidate focused on electrochemical energy conversion in the Chemical Engineering department at UC Berkeley. She is the campus coordinator for the Bay Area Scientists Inspiring Students (BASIS) program, volunteer with the Global Engineering Initiative, and a writer/editor for the Berkeley Science Review magazine. As a first-generation college student, Julie strives for effective communication skills not just to her fellow scientists, but also to non-scientists and future scientists. She communicates her science through various outlets: classrooms (including virtual ones), zines, articles, and community talks. In her free time, she loves to rock climb, read, and hike all around the Bay Area.
