Jocelyn (Jie) Wang
Jocelyn (Jie) Wang is a 5th year Ph.D. student in Microbiology and Immunology. She received her BS from University of Toronto in Pharmacology. Her current research focuses on studying the differences between adult and young animals’ immune responses using mice model. Neonatal animals have been known to be more susceptible to repeated infections. We discovered that this is not because their immune systems are less mature, but rather because they don’t form good immunological memory to “remember” any previous infections to protect them from the future encounters. Jocelyn has participated in several local outreach events in the past, including teaching a mini workshop at local elementary schools, volunteering in recruitment events for our graduate programs and co-leading a workshop for Expanding Your Horizons for two years.
