Jamie is a queer, nonbinary MD/PhD student at Washington University in St. Louis. They study how the brain responds to pain and opioids, and how gene editing can alter that response. They are passionate about open, accessible science communication, and host a podcast called In Plain English where they foster discussions between experts and the general public about a wide range of scientific research. They also have many passions outside of science, including reading and writing, biking, playing trumpet and piano, and playing Dungeons and Dragons with their friends.
