Holly Elmore

I am a third year PhD student in the Organismic and Evolutionary Biology Department at Harvard University with a BA in Evolutionary, Ecological, and Organismal Biology from Vanderbilt University. Most broadly, I want to understand how genes grapple with their genetic environment and ultimately adapt to their ecological environment through the organisms they create. I combine computational genomics, phylogenetics, and molecular biology to explore the significance of evolution both within and outside of the coding sequence. Currently, I study the genome organization in fungi with a focus on mating genes.
