Greg Pilgrim

Greg Pilgrim recently defended his PhD in Chemistry, with a focus on nanomaterials, at the University of Rochester.  Despite the words written on his degree he actually knows very little chemistry, having instead cultivating an understanding of nanomaterials from a materials science and engineering perspective.  The mismatch between his physical location, (in a chemistry department) and his intellectual location, (somewhere else) has made him very interested in the communication of scientific ideas across disciplines.

Greg’s work has mostly focused on making things out of carbon nanotubes, including membranes, drug delivery systems, and systems to aid in the study of water molecules in confining environments.

Beginning Fall ’15 he will be a postdoc at Kyoto University, in Japan, as a Fellow of the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science.
