PhD candidate at Memorial University
Grace Akese is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Geography at Memorial University. Her research interest sits at the intersection of discard studies and the geographies of electronic waste. She currently researches e-waste science and advocacy and the effects they have for specific places and people, specifically Agbogbloshie a site in Accra, Ghana that is ostensibly “world’s largest e-waste dump” and a key site for global e-waste science and advocacy. Her research has a strong commitment to opening spaces where e-waste science and advocacy can be more carefully thought through and done differently.
