Are you a science researcher or medical student hoping to pursue a career in science communication? Or an early-stage science communicator looking to hone your craft? The Communicating Science at ScienceWriters2020 (ComSciCon-SciWri 2020) workshop will take place at Boulder & Aurora, CO from October 8-13, 2020. In addition to the  ScienceWriters2020 program, attendees will receive personal hands-on training and mentorship and publish an original piece by the end of the workshop.

Below are selected testimonies from our 2019 attendees:

“This has been one of the best experiences that I've had in my science career. I feel like the connections I made through ComSciCon-SciWri19 will last a lifetime. My career feels forever changes (in a good way!).”

“ComSciCon-SciWri was such a great experience in multiple ways: it gave me an idea of what the world of science journalism looks like in practical terms, introduced me to a completely new network of people that I would have never met otherwise, and provided me with a strong colleague network that I can now collaborate with! Not to mention the dozens of new science story ideas that have just popped into my head.”

“Having no idea what ComSci[Con] is, there is no best way than ComSciCon-SciWri to get introduced to this incredible field. The organization and logistics are incredible, I feel included and supported all the way through. The friendships and connections developed were very impactful, and I will carry them for life. Your perspectives on science journalism will drastically change and you will probably fall in love with it.”

“ComSciCon-SciWri 2019 was an amazing experience for me. I had mentorship from a well-respected professional writer, got trained by influential science communicators, and connected with an outstanding cohort of people who really inspired me to push myself to be a better science writer and communicator.”

“ComSciCon-SciWri 2019 was so much more than a science conference. It was an opportunity to gain valuable writing skills, to meet professionals outside of academia, and to build a network of colleagues with shared values on science communication... Before this experience, I couldn't imagine sending a pitch of my own writing to a popular science outlet... ComSciCon-SciWri 2019 had a huge impact on my professional development and communication skills. I would highly support future cohorts!”
