The first annual ComSciCon-Rocky Mountain West Workshop will take place September 23-24, 2017 on the University of Colorado Boulder campus. We are excited to welcome graduate students from Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Utah. Thanks to our generous sponsors, the workshop will be free of charge to all accepted applicants.
At our workshop, participants will network with and learn from professional science communicators—including but not limited to science journalists, writers, researchers, industry professionals, policy makers—and work closely with these experts on learning how to construe and deliver the perfect elevator pitch, deliver a winning interview, write an original piece for a popular science outlet and more! This workshop will also feature a keynote speaker, workshops, and expert panels on the following topics: science writing & multimedia, science communication in industry, science policy and advocacy settings, diversity and inclusion as well as community engagement. Participants will walk away with insight on how to utilize communication skills throughout their careers, regardless of career path.
