Lauren Aguirre has led NOVA’s general audience digital initiatives since the launch of its first web site in 1996. Prior to that she produced documentaries for broadcast. Over the past decade and a half, NOVA’s digital presence has grown through the creation of innovative content and audience engagement, including online adventures, 360-degree panoramas, interactive television viewing experiences, web-original video, podcasts, sharable content, and an active social media presence.
More recently, Aguirre has overseen several initiatives that expand into content areas beyond broadcast and introduce NOVA to new audiences. These include: NOVA Labs, a digital educational platform for teens to work on science and engineering projects; NOVA's first iPad app, NOVA Elements; Secret Life of Scientist and Engineers, a video profile series; The Nature of Reality, a physics blog; co-reporting on radio with PRI’s The World; and NOVA
