m finishing up my doctorate at UCONN in Genetics and heading off to a postdoc at Wisconsin-Madison this summer to pursue science education research. While my doctorate was a fascinating project blending classical developmental biology, stem cells, and transcriptomics, teaching has always been my true passion and I'm excited for this next chapter. My goal is to improve the scientific literacy of our undergraduates through curriculum reform and the inclusion of more communication skills tutoring. Currently I work with professors to include more problem-based learning activities in their courses and also lecture in a Communication Skills class on effective presentation design and delivery. As I head into science education research, I'd like to start writing Op-ed pieces on the National reforms in STEM education to inform parents of what's happening in their schools and communities.
